Lynell Hamilton Tears ACL, Could Miss Entire Season

Posted in General News on August 12th, 2010 by Eric – Comments Off >

The injury to the Saints running back occurred during a walk-through as the team practiced against the New England Patriots, prior to tonight’s preseason game.  As of this writing, he hasn’t been placed on injured reserve.  But it’s hard to believe that Hamilton will stick around on the active roster after such a serious injury.

2010 was supposed to present a very big opportunity for Lynell Hamilton.  With Mike Bell no longer on the team, it was widely assumed that Hamilton would take over Bell’s role as the “power back”.  In fact, during the Saints’ Super Bowl run last season, it appeared that Hamilton had already supplanted Bell during the playoffs.

Former Washington Redskins back Ladell Betts visited the Saints recently and would be a nice replacement.  The veteran certainly has the skills to give the Saints the short yardage back they desire.

Regardless, here’s wishing Lynell Hamilton a full recovery and I hope to see him back in the Black & Gold in 2011.

The defending Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints weren’t on the practice field today.  Instead, they visited President Obama at the White House and wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  Thanks to the magic of Twitter, several players uploaded photos of the events as they happened.

Check out a selection of photos from the visit below:
