Predictions: NFC East

Predicted Order of Finish:

1. New York Giants - This is a tough division, but it’s hard to argue that the Giants aren’t the team to beat.  Sure, losing Plaxico Burress to, um, jail will hurt.  But they didn’t have him much last season, either.  Eli Manning has matured into a very good (and wealthy) quarterback, and there is no lack of a running game or defense.
Record: 12-4

2. Dallas Cowboys - Getting rid of T.O. was almost as good of a move as putting your scoreboard in the minds of opposing punters!  Seriously, I look for the chemistry on this team to be better in 2009.  Whether or not they are a serious Super Bowl contender will depend on how Tony Romo plays in the big games.
Record: 10-6

3. Philadelphia Eagles – Well, I can’t say that adding Michael Vick puts this team over the top.  I’m still not convinced that Donovan McNabb has a real go-to-guy in his receiving corps.  Maybe rookie receiver Jeremy Maclin can be that guy?  Also, losing defensive coordinator Jim Johnson to cancer was a terrible blow to this franchise.  From a football perspective, you wonder if they can play at the same level of defense without him.
Record: 8-8

4. Washington Redskins – I’d love to pick them higher, I really would.  They have Albert Haynesworth anchoring that defensive line and a lot of talent on that side of the ball.  Offensively, they can run.  But, is it just me, or is quarterback Jason Campbell starting to remind us of Aaron Brooks a little bit?  He can look spectacular at times, but then has one of those “What was he thinking?!?” moments at a crucial time.  This is going to be his last chance in Washington to shake that reputation.
Record: 7-9

  1. [...] I predicted the Eagles to be an 8-8 team, and I still believe that.  That doesn’t mean they won’t be a threat to the Saints, but I don’t think they’re as elite as some are making them out to be. [...]
